Call Centre fund raising success for slimming staff

Charity fund-raising at SMART has kicked off 2009 with a healthy boost from its staff slimming club. SlimSMART was launched at the start of January to encourage the Crewe call centre's staff to improve their diet and to promote a healthier lifestyle. It has proved highly popular with almost a quarter of the workforce joining in, and has so far raised £40 for Plan, the child-centred humanitarian charity.

Crewe-based telemarketing company SMART has long supported the work of the Plan charity - the international humanitarian child-centred development organisation. The company has now pledged its support to help the charity raise almost £90,000 within the next year, to provide safer education for children and employment for young people in Mvuti Village, Tanzania.

Zombies, witches, warlocks and even the Grim Reaper invaded SMART's Crewe call centre today. But it was all in a very good cause. The telemarketing staff 'dress down day' was part of SMART's on-going charity fund raising efforts, and all proceeds from the day will go to the Plan charity - the international humanitarian child-centred development organisation.
A highly successful business trip to China has enabled Crewe-based marketing firm SMART to build the foundations for future partnerships with key suppliers to China's growing economy.

Edward Carter has been busy training throughout the summer for his challenge to complete the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon in London later this month, when he will raise much needed funds for the international child-centred charity PLAN. Sponsorship of Ed's tremendous effort has so far raised in excess of £1,000 and he is hoping to increase this impressive figure as there are still a few days to go before the event on October 12.
