Zombies, witches, warlocks and even the Grim Reaper invaded SMART's Crewe call centre today. But it was all in a very good cause. The telemarketing staff 'dress down day' was part of SMART's on-going charity fund raising efforts, and all proceeds from the day will go to the Plan charity - the international humanitarian child-centred development organisation.
To date SMART's staff have raised a fantastic sum for Plan through their various fund-raising activities; this has made a significant contribution towards building a school for children in Ghana. The Halloween dress down day is expected to raise over two hundred pounds. This follows a recent successful event that raised £2,000 for Plan, when the whole company supported colleague Edward Carter in a sponsored half marathon in mid October. SMART's founder and Director Heather Carter said: "We hold the Plan charity very close to our hearts here and we're all keen to continue raising funds for such a worthy cause." The company organises regular social activities and sponsored events throughout the year, including song and dance shows, pop concerts and race nights. All of the company's charity fundraising is donated directly to Plan, and one project supported by SMART currently provides on-going education for the children and community of Essandukurom, Ghana.
